For Girl Scouts and Troops – American History Film Project
August 1, 2019
FreeGirl Scouts and Troops, the American History Film Project can help you get your badges! We’re listed with the Girl Scouts Council of the Nation’s Capital, but any troop across the entire USA can participate.
Who: All Levels
When: August 2019 through April 1, 2020 and annual event on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at the Angelika Theater in Fairfax, VA
Where: Angelika Theater- 2911 District Ave, Fairfax, VA 22031
What: The American History Film Project is an community building, educational project. Students K-12 across the USA, make a short film (3-10 min) about something in their local history. They can interview an elderly person from their community, or a vet. They can find out about a historic place or event. when they are finished with their film, they take it back to their local community : their troop, their school, or another group. They invite parents to see it. This is all done with a parent permission form on our web site.
Then on the Sat. June 6, 2020, we have our big event at the Angelika Theater and we see films from across the USA. Students receive medals and awards, and walk on the red carpet afterwards. There’s a free reception after that.
As an extra bonus, troops within the National Capital area might possibly get a chance to visit a post-production studio. But this must be arranged with plenty advanced planning, especially if it’s on a Saturday. For more information, and to see additional rules go the Submit Films. We’re excited to hear from you !!
Fee: No Fee. It’s FREE.
