For Girl Scouts and Troops – American History Film Project
August 26, 2018 - April 1, 2019
FreeGirl Scouts and Troops, the American History Film Project can help you get your badges! We’re listed with the Girl Scouts Council of the Nation’s Capital, but any troop across the entire USA can participate.
Who: Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors
When: Ongoing through April 1, 2019
Where: Your local troop
What: Girl Scout troop leaders take note! The American History Film Project is an ideal project for your entire troop. At the American History Film Project we want your troops to make a short film (3-10 min) about something in their local/community history, then take it back to the local community. We want to show your community film to parents and others at a troop meeting, for example.
The American History Film Project is free and any child (K-12) with their parent’s written permission can participate. It isn’t a competition! At that local event, each child will receive a certificate from us and a sign that says “I am an American Hero“, to celebrate them and your community. Then at our national event, outside of Washington, DC, girls can see their films on the big screen, walk on the red carpet, and have medals placed around their necks. Since it isn’t a competition, adults can assist the children.
Here are badges that could apply to the American History Film Project:
- Brownies: Celebrating Community
- Junior: Playing with the past
- Cadettes: Digital Movie Maker
- Seniors: Truth Seeker
As an extra bonus, troops within the National Capital area might possibly get a chance to visit a post-production studio. But this must be arranged with plenty advanced planning, especially if it’s on a Saturday. For more information, and to see additional rules go the Submit Films. We’re excited to hear from you !!
Fee: No Fee. It’s FREE.
